Rock band REM was forced to cancel a British show after bass player Mike Mills collapsed an hour before
taking the stage, reportedly due to an ear infection.
"Mike could hardly stand up, let alone play. After arriving at the hospital, Mills complained to doctors he
was suffering from severe flu symptoms and loss of balance. After being given a thorough medical
examination (he) was diagnosed as suffering from an ear infection," the band's spokesperson said.
Mill's illness disappointed over 12,000 fans who had battled a blizzard to attend the "Leaving New York"
band's show Monday.
