Natalie Portman and Israeli actor Aki Avni were chased away by a mob of angry ultra Orthodox Jews
because a scene they were filming in Jerusalem supposedly violated the crowd's religious codes.
"Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" star Portman and her co-star were kissing for the film "Free
Zone", while standing in front of Jerusalem's Western Wall, once part of a biblical Jewish temple. It is
considered one of the holiest Jewish sites, ITV reported.
Israeli newspapers blamed director Amos Gaiti, accusing him of not asking permission prior to shooting
the scene. Eventually, a compromise was reportedly reached for the actors to come back to the site at a
later hour.
