Queen Elizabeth is one of the hottest contenders for the best celebrity mother award this year after she hit headlines for refusing to attend the forthcoming wedding of Prince
Charles to Camilla Parker-Bowles, Sky News reports.
Voting for the Quality Street Celebrity Mum of the Year Award closes on March 1 and insiders say the queen has been getting a flurry of votes placing her among the top
four contenders.
The award, which was won last year by the "Men For Sale" star Ulrika Jonsson, has raised eyebrows in the past for crowning the likes of Melinda Messenger, a former
topless model.
"The big surprise is that for the first time in the competition's history, the general public is voting for the queen," a spokesperson for the event said.
"The queen, it seems, is winning over supporters for successfully dealing with all the trials and tribulations that having children entails, while continuing to manage her busy
life. She is one of the top four contenders for the title."
Supermodel Kate Moss, former pop singer Victoria Beckham, Jemima Khan and "X Factor" judge Sharon Osbourne are some of the other contenders.
