The lawsuit against Kobe Bryant by a woman who accused the basketball star of raping her in a hotel room has been settled out of court, Xinhua reports.
According to a statement issued by attorneys representing both sides, Bryant, who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, and the woman settled their case Wednesday.
The suit "has been resolved to the satisfaction of both parties", said the statement.
There was no mention of a financial settlement in either the court filing or statement, but Bryant is widely believed to have agreed to write a cheque to the 20-something
woman, said a Los Angeles Times report.
Bryant issued an apology letter after the case was dismissed, writing, "although I truly believe this encounter between us was consensual... I now understand how she
sincerely feels that she did not consent."
Lakers executive director of public relations John Black told Los Angeles Times: "We are pleased for Kobe and his family that this issue has been resolved."
The woman accused Bryant of raping her in 2003 at a mountain resort in Colorado where she worked as a concierge. Bryant admitted to having sex with the woman, but said
it was consensual.
