Hollywood stars Johnny Depp and John Cusack joined friends and family of the late author Hunter S. Thompson at a private memorial party.

The "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas" author shot himself in the head at his secure compound in Woody Creek, Colorado, last month, Internet portal imdb reported.

In keeping with Thompson's wishes, only friends and family were invited to the memorial celebration Saturday in Aspen, Colorado.

Depp and Cusack both appeared alongside Thompson in a 2003 documentary on his life, entitled "Breakfast With Hunter".

Depp also played Thompson in the 1998 cult film adaptation of "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas".
