Never one to be out of the bad press, Britney Spears is set to star in a comedy film "In The Pink", alongside Cher, Bette Midler and Tim Allen.

In the film that will start filming later this month, Spears will play a door-to-door saleswoman called Drew Heart, reported Sky News.

"Britney really wanted this part - it's a good script and she's determined to prove to her doubters that she can be funny," a friend of the 23-year-old pop diva was quoted as saying.

Her first film "Crossroads", co-starring Anston Mount and Zoe Saldana, was panned by both critics and viewers alike.
