Pop diva Britney Spears has confirmed she is pregnant by posting a message to fans on her official website, ending months of speculation.

"The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together," the message, signed by Britney and husband Kevin Federline, was quoted as saying by Ireland Online.

"There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend. Kevin and I just want everyone to know that all is well. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers."

The 23-year-old "Toxic" star had made no secret of her wish to start a family with Kevin, but had been denying that she was pregnant despite published pictures showing her increasing waistline.

This will be Britney's first baby, while Kevin, 27, already has two children with ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson.
