Mariah Carey is begging British comedian Ricky Gervais for a cameo role in his new TV show "Extras".

The "Butterfly" singer apparently laughed herself hoarse at 'The Office', Gervais' Golden Globe-winning TV show, and has approached the producers, BBC, to discuss the possibility of taking a role in the star-studded new series.

According to Ireland Online, the stellar cast of "Extras" already includes Kate Winslet and Samuel L. Jackson.

"We thought it was a wind-up when we got a call and were told Mariah wanted to speak to us. We were filming that day, but plan to hook up with her later in the series if she is in town," a source was quoted as saying.
