Tom Cruise doesn't care what fans think about his new romance with Katie Holmes because he thinks she's "an exceptional woman".

The couple announced their romance in Italy earlier this month, prompting sceptics to question the validity of the match, reports celebrity portal Femalefirst.

"I want to share my life with this woman, this woman is exceptional, she's special, she's extraordinary and I have great respect for her. I've got nothing to hide, I'm happy... She is something else," the "Mission Impossible" star gushed.

Many still feel the romance is a scam to help promote the couple's blockbuster summer movies "War of the Worlds" and "Batman Begins".

But Cruise chooses to ignore the doubters: "When I make a move like that, I'm saying, 'This is my woman.' You can't think in terms of what are people gonna do or gonna say."
