Pioneering Indian American comedy "American Desi" is now available across the US on Time Warner Cable's Movies on Demand service as part of its Hit Asian Film Series.

Written and directed by Piyush Dinker Pandya, the film was selected to be a part of the special 14-film festival, which spotlights Asian and Asian American cinema, a press release said.

The film will be made available through June for a price of $3.95 each.

The movie was released in theatres worldwide in 2001 and became a box office hit. It also spawned a new generation of South Asian American talent.

The film starred actors including Kal Penn, who has gone on to star in several Hollywood films, including "Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle" and the upcoming "Superman Returns", and Deep Katdare, who played a lead role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Broadway musical "Bombay Dreams" and recently starred in "Law & Order: Trial by Jury" on NBC and "CSI: Miami" on CBS.
