Paris Hilton's parents Rick and Kathy were delighted that Paris Latsis, their daughter's fiancé, had asked them for her hand in marriage.

The Greek shipping heir had asked the millionaire couple's permission before getting down on one knee to propose to "The Simple Life" reality TV star Paris on May 25, reports celebrity portal Femalefirst.

Kathy told the New York Daily Times newspaper: "He is a wonderful young man. We love him. If he didn't (ask our permission), I would be very angry. My husband would be furious."

Hilton and Latsis have been dating since December last year after renewing an old friendship at Latsis' 27th birthday party.
