Nicole Kidman has her prospective boyfriends vetted by her family before she is allowed to date them - so she doesn't get hurt, reports celebrity portal Femalefirst.

The stunning Australian actress lets her mother, father and sister interrogate any would-be friends because she believes they know what's best for her after nursing her through her break-up Tom Cruise.

She said: "It's a bit silly, since I'm 37, but my father says we are never going to go through what we went through before.

"When my marriage exploded, I was really, really scared by the whole situation."

Kidman told America's Vanity Fair magazine that she shared a bed with sister Antonia immediately after her relationship with Cruise ended because she was so lonely and scared.

"My sister and I slept in the same bed together. She would just hold me and tell me, 'You're going to be OK!"
