Actress Regina Hall says she is trying to spread the rumour that she had a lesbian affair with Gabrielle Union in an effort to boost the box office success of their new movie "The Honeymooners".

The former "Ally Mcbeal" star says she finds it daunting that her film will compete with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's "Mr & Mrs Smith" that released Friday - so she's resorting to desperate measures, reports celebrity portal Femalefirst.

She jokes: "Our movie comes out the same day as 'Mr & Mrs Smith', so I keep trying to spread the rumour that I've slept with Gabrielle."
