Hollywood star George Clooney plans to meet British Prime Minister Tony Blair and other world leaders converging for the G-8 summit in Scotland to urge funding for the
world's impoverished countries.
Clooney will team up with fellow celebrities Sir Bob Geldof and Bono, who are part of the force behind Saturday's Live 8 awareness shows, when he goes to meet members
of the G-8 summit, reports celebrity portal Femalefirst.
He says: "We're working on the Make Poverty History campaign to try and get members of G-8 to throw a little more money toward Africa."
Clooney, who is trying to arrange a one-on-one meeting with Blair, regrets it has taken him so long to get involved with the worthwhile cause.
He adds: "I came to it much later than most of my friends."
Clooney will also team up with Brad Pitt at the London Live 8 concert in Hyde Park. Pitt was originally slated to co-present at the Live 8 show in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania.
The G-8 summit is being held July 6-8 in Gleneagles, Scotland.
