A US Christian group has slammed the new Jessica Simpson video, in which she washes a car wearing a skimpy bikini, terming it "slutty".

The group, which calls itself Resistance, has taken exception to the video for the song "These Boots Are Made For Walking", Rolling Stone magazine reports.

The song is from the soundtrack for the movie "Dukes of Hazzard".

The group, which is particularly dismayed since Simpson's father is a Baptist pastor, has asked Simpson to shoot a cleaner version.

A spokesperson said: "Jess should be ashamed of herself. She has one of the most beautiful voices, but it's sad to see her whore herself out like this. She's a singing stripper. What's worse is that she's the daughter of a pastor."
