The star of the "Star Wars" series, Ewan McGregor, confesses that when his career was taking off he used to be a miserable drunk.
In an interview to Playboy magazine, McGregor reveals he stopped drinking a few years ago after it got really out of hand.
He said: "I think drinking and being out of control narrow your options in front of the camera."
"I was just ashamed of myself, really. I was reeking (of booze)," the New York Post reports.
"Originally I was a happy drunk. But later I was miserable because it's a depressant."
McGregor got his break in the groundbreaking film "Trainspotting" in 1996 directed by the Scottish film maker Danny Boyle. His hits have included the "Star Wars" series,
"Down With Love" and "Big Fish".
