Katie Holmes, the "Batman Begins" actress, says she is not ready to marry "right away" even after her recent engagement to new love Tom Cruise.

The 26-year-old says she wants to enjoy her engagement before becoming Cruise's wife, reports Hollywood.com.

"Everybody in Los Angeles says they never want to get married, well I don't want to get married right now, but I do want to grow old with somebody," she said.

Holmes and Cruise began dating in April and have had a whirlwind romance with many public displays of affection and interviews - shooting down allegations of them being publicity stunts. They finally got engaged atop the Eiffel tower.

When Holmes marries Cruise she will become stepmother to the two adopted children Cruise raised with ex-wife Nicole Kidman.
