The legendary Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has finally signed up to appear in one of the two planned sequels of the "Pirates of the Caribbean".

According to Contactmusic.com, Richards will play Captain Jack Sparrow's (Johnny Depp) father.

This news was confirmed by co-star Bill Nighy. He said: " I can confirm, Keith Richards will appear in 'Pirates of the Caribbean' 2 or 3. I'm not sure which one, because they are being filmed back to back."

Earlier this month Depp had revealed that he was trying to rope in Richards to play the role. Depp had also revealed at the time of the release of the first movie "Pirates of the Caribbean" that he had based his performance of the Oscar nominated role on Keith Richards.
