Nicole Kidman, the Oscar-winning actress of "The Hours" and ex-wife of superstar Tom Cruise, says she missed her first big acting break because she refused to kiss another girl in a film.

According to Glamour magazine, this big break came along her way when she was in high school in her native country Australia.

She said: "In high school I loved to act because you'd get to kiss the boys you had a crush on. [Director] Jane Campion came to my school and wanted to cast me in her student film, but she wanted me to wear a shower cap on my head and kiss another girl."

"I did not want to kiss another girl, so I told her I had my school exams and couldn't."

Even though Campion and Kidman missed out on working on a movie that time they later teamed up years later for "The Portrait of a Lady".
