A new luxury hotel being built in French Polynesia will honour deceased US film star Marlon Brando and will
be named "The Brando", the Tahiti tourism authority has said.
"The Brando" will be situated on a small island in the Tetiaroa-atoll, about 42 km north of Tahiti. The atoll once
belonged to the film star who died last year.
"The Brando" with its 30 luxury bungalows, each costing about $1.23 million, is scheduled for completion in
2008 and will be the most expensive hotel in French Polynesia.
French Polynesia, an overseas territory of France, is a group of 118 volcanic and coral islands and atolls in
the Pacific Ocean.
Another hotel, "Intercontinental", is scheduled to open next year on the island of Bora Bora with a new air
conditioning system running on an environmentally-friendly system with seawater.
A third luxury hotel, ready in 2008, is being built on Tahiti near the airport and will cater mainly for stop-over
guests, the tourist authority said.
