A politician from singer Shakira's native Colombia has accused the singer of 'moral decay', saying her latest video promotes both lesbianism and smoking.
Too hot to handle? Shakira gyrates and poses seductively in the new music video for her duet with Rihanna, Can't Remember To Forget You.
The clip for the Shakira- Rihanna duet Can't Remember To Forget You features the pair cavorting on a bed in black lingerie, with Shakira shown suggestively puffing on a cigar.
Having seen the video, Public Option party councillor Marco Fidel Ramírez, from the Colombian capital of Bogota, had a visceral reaction.
Ramírez calls himself a fan of Shakira, and argues that precisely because of her talent and fame, she doesn't need sex to sell her albums.
`Our Shakira with her erotic video is promoting tobacco usage and has become the worst example for our youth,` he wrote on Twitter.
`Shakira's new video is a shameless case for lesbianism and immorality. It is a danger to children,` he added, using the hashtag #Peligro-VideoShakira, which translates to 'Dangers of Shakira's Video'.
`It sends a provocative message to weak people who can be polluted and induced to practice (lesbianism),` he continued, further describing the clip as an 'apology' for lesbianism.
Ramírez has since started a petition demanding that the country's National Televison Authority ban the video outright and boycott the singer, who is largely heralded as the nation's biggest musical export.
