Leonardo DiCaprio, who once again returned empty handed from the Oscars, had plenty of sympathisers in the online community with 'GiveLeoAnOscar' and 'PoorLeo' trending on Twitter.
The internet broke into meme mode as fans took to social networking sites to share their feelings about DiCaprio's loss in the best actor category to Matthew McConaughey. The 39-year-old actor has been nominated five times including this year's best actor and producer nomination.
After McConaughey, who had a small role in DiCaprio's 'The Wolf of Wall Street', beat him last night, his fans took to Twitter to share their opinion. Fans edited many famous scenes from DiCaprio's movies to include many pictures of the actor in tears and a the golden statuette in them. They also shared their opinion on Twitter.
'GiveLeoAnOscar for something else at least. Like 'Most Deserving Nominee Who Never Wins An Oscar' or something of the sort," a tweet read. Another fan added helpfully, 'Give him an Oscar for his face.'
"He has been training for his oscar since he was a youth #GiveLeoAnOscar," one tweet read. "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride," summed up the actor's situation by borrowing the line from romantic comedy '27 Dresses'.
