Actress Katie Holmes says her top priority is to make her six-year-old daughter Suri feel special constantly.
Holmes believes children of today are exposed a lot, however, the basics of parenting continue to remain the same, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"Children are exposed to so much more than we were, I suppose every generation goes through that feeling of, 'Oh my God, it's so different from how I grew up'. I think the basics are very important," Holmes told the April edition of ELLE magazine.
"The number one thing is making sure my child feels loved. And good about herself. And that what she does and who she is, is special and important, and should be celebrated," she added.
The 35-year-old, who was married to actor Tom Cruise from 2006 until 2012, says motherhood has changed her outlook towards life.
"I think all of our experiences bring us to a greater understanding of ourselves and help us realise what is most important. That being said, I have three older sisters and one older brother and I went to an all-girls school, and have always been a fan of women.
"I support women and all experiences give you more insight into others, as well as yourself," she said.
