The Hollywood actor urges fans on social media to stop the TV host from quitting his show next year

Washington: Alec Baldwin has launched a Twitter campaign with an intention to stop US TV veteran David Letterman who wants to retire from his long-running late night talk show.

The Late Show host has planned to quit his talking show in 2015, and therefore, Baldwin has decided to persuade Letterman to stay, and urged his fans to petition the TV host via the social networking website.

The Academy Award winner wrote, `Maybe it's futile, but here goes. Letterman cannot retire. Just... just.... no. Send him this: #DontGoDave`
