Singer-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham will receive an award for her charity work at Eva Longoria's Global Gift Gala.

The former Spice Girl will be handed the Global Gift Philanthropeneur Award in recognition of her work for charities such as Mothers2mothers, Save the Children and Born Free Africa, reports contactmusic.com.

Recipients of the prize are said to have shown "commitment, dedication and achievement as a world-renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist".

"I am very much looking forward to returning to The Global Gift Gala to support my good friend Eva Longoria. It is also a great honour to be receiving the Global Gift Philanthropeneur Award at this special event," Beckham said in a statement.

Longoria, who chairs the event annually, is also happy to honour her "dear friend, Victoria to celebrate her outstanding charitable work".

The event will take place here in November this year.
