Redmayne, Moore named best lead actors at SAG Awards

Eddie Redmayne and Julianne Moore won for best lead actor and actress for `The Theory of Everything` and `Still Alice` respectively at the 21st edition of Screen Actors Guild Awards held here Sunday night.

SAG Awards 2015, that honoured the best achievements in film and television performances for the year 2014, took place at the Shrine Auditorium here.

J.K. Simmons and Patricia Arquette took home the supporting actor and actress prizes for `Whiplash` and `Boyhood` respectively, reports washingtonpost.com.

The SAG Awards, in which the winners are voted by fellow actors, also awards television, even though the focus is clearly on movies.

`Orange is the New Black` won for best comedy ensemble. Kevin Spacey also won for his creepy role on `House of Cards.` Mark Ruffalo won the best actor in a miniseries for `The Normal Heart` and Frances McDormand as actress in a mini-series in `Olive Kitteridge`.

Also, Debbie Reynolds won the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented to her by her daughter, Carrie Fisher. Reynolds took a moment to share that when Fisher got the part of Princess Leia in `Star Wars`, she warned her daughter about getting

stuck with any weird hairdos that would haunt her for life.
