Eddie Redmayne, who won the coveted Best Actor trophy at the 87th Academy Awards for portraying physicist Stephen Hawking in `The Theory of Everything`, considers himself `lucky` for the honour and has dedicated the award to people suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
The 33-year-old, who took to the Oscar stage here Sunday, said in his acceptance speech `I don't think I'm capable of articulating quite how I feel right now. I am fully aware that I'm a lucky, lucky man`, reports nydailynews.com.
`This Oscar belongs to all of those people around the world suffering with ALS. It belongs to one exceptional family -- Stephen, Jane and the Hawking children. I will be his custodian. I will be at his beck and call,` he added.
Redmayne was nominated along with Steve Carell (`Foxcatcher`), Bradley Cooper (`American Sniper`), Benedict Cumberbatch (`The Imitation Game") and Michael Keaton ("Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)`.
