During a recent event to promote his upcoming film 'Bombay Velvet', Ranbir Kapoor explained why he steers clear of social media.

He feels freedom of speech doesn't exist in India. According to him, anything that is said is always open to numerous interpretations.

"If you don't have freedom of speech, then how can you use a medium like Twitter?" he stated.

The star feels there are only a few people who talk freely on Twitter, like his father Rishi Kapoor.

Ranbir, however, does not want to give people the opportunity to speculate and issue clarifications later. To each his own.
