Just the other day he was doing the Bhangra with Rani Mukherjee at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

But on Thursday Saif landed up in a hospital in Kuala Lampur with an acute stomach pain which has now been diagnosed as appendicitis.

After which he underwent a successful operation for appendicitis at a hospital here on Thursday and his condition is stated to be satisfactory.

The actor who has just finished shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj's Othello, has ample time to recover from the surgery. No shooting schedule gets affected because his next film will be Siddharth Anand's next which starts in June.

However Saif was supposed to head for a world concert this summer. This would naturally have to be cancelled now.

Friends are stupefied at the sudden turn of events. Says Aishwarya Rai, "Just the other day Saif was hale and hearty and a livewire in Melbourne. It's hard to believe he's unwell."

Saif is in Melbourne to shoot an ad with lady-love Rosa.
