John Abraham's father is a Malayali Christian and his mother is an Iranian who married after a brief courtship. Reportedly, his father being Catholic he was named John but since his mother is an Iranian, he was given the name ‘Farhan' also.

John who was born on 17 December 1972 did MBA and started his career as a media planner in an agency named Enterprises-Nexus but he was not destined to continue with this career. He participated in the prestigious Gladrags Manhunt contest and he won. After that he qualified in the international finals and this was followed by a modeling stint abroad.

After coming back he was flooded with music video offers and then he went on to sign his First film ‘Aitbaar' with Amitabh Bachchan and the hot and happening Bipasha Basu but unfortunately this got shelved. His career was propelled to new heights with the release of the film "Jism' and after that there was no looking back.
