Police said that this is just a tip of the iceberg and more arrests are likely to take place. Police sources from Mumbai wanted to break this high-profile racket. The actress said in her statement that she involved herself in the prostitution trade for financial stability.
Police said after getting the mobile number of the pimp from a website, they got in touch with the pimp who ran the alleged prostitution racket in Mumbai. Police said once they got the number, police informers started negotiating the deal on the mobile phone.
When the police informer finalized the arrangement to spend a night, the pimp demanded over Rs 3 lakh for supplying the actress and demanded that she should be kept at a starred hotel in Goa. Police said the pimp also demanded Rs 1.5 lakh in advance.
After paying the advance money to the pimp on Monday, police informers immediately informed the Panaji police that they are coming to Goa and booked a room in a starred hotel in Panaji. Accordingly, police constituted a team to conduct a raid at the hotel.
Police said the pimp, the actress and police informers came to Goa by flight on Tuesday morning and checked into the hotel. The police along with NGO members conducted the raid at around 3.30pm and found the actress in a compromising position.
Immediately, the police rescued the girl and arrested the pimp under section 4, 5, 7 of immoral trafficking act.
