Police today said that action will not be taken in a haste in the road accident case involving actor John Abraham at suburban Khar on Saturday night, even as the actor
continues to be admitted at Leelavati Hospital for knee injury.
The actor sustained injuries after his imported Yamaha mobike skidded after brushing by two cyclists, who also sustained minor bruises. Police have registered a case of
rash and negligent driving against Abraham.
DCP Amitabh Gupta told that Abraham was yet to be arrested and the police would take action against him only after investigations in the case were over.
"We will take action only after the statements of the concerned are recorded and investigations pertaining to tracing the tyre marks, fixing reponsibility for the accident etc.,
are done," DCP Gupta said.
Although the offence registered by police against Abraham is a bailable one, police will have to arrest the actor if it was proved that it was his rash driving that led to the
accident and injuries to the cyclists, sources said.
In case, investigations conclude that no one was responsible, and the incident was a plain accident, then there was no question of the arrest and necessary steps will be
taken in the case, sources added.
