Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who has been convicted by a Jodhpur court for hunting an endangered deer species, may have more trouble coming his way in connection
with a similar incident nine years ago in Kutch district of Gujarat when he was shooting for a movie.
Khan was allegedly involved in shooting of two 'Chinkara' (deer species) at Sumasara village of Kutch district in 1998 but investigating officials could not get any evidence
against him and actress Aishwarya Rai, a senior forest department official told.
The incident had occurred during the shooting of film `Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' and the Gujarat police had issued summons to the two actors in November after they
wrapped up their shoot and left the place.
"There was some investigation conducted and the statement of the two actors were taken by a police team that went to Mumbai. But due to lack of evidence, nothing
evolved," Kutch conservator of forest R L Meena said.
However a Gujarat-based wildlife activist alleged a shoddy investigation had led to Salman not being arrested for hunting two of the endangered species.
"I have sought for the case papers from the state forest department by using the Right to Information Act. Once the details of the investigation conducted and the facts of the
case emerge, then some legal action could be taken against Salman in this case also", the activist Amit Jethva said.
