"My main characters Rajib (Dr Palash Sen) and Ananya (Ira Dubey) come from different schools of thought. While one yearns for familial love, the other is overpowered by ambition," he says about the film that also features Yashpal Sharma, Tinnu Anand, Prisha Dabbas and Saurabh Pandey.
The filmmaker feels that Palash and Ira have performed well as the bickering Assamese couple. He says, "They have very contrasting styles of working. While Ira is methodical and prepares for her roles, Palash is more spontaneous."
A large part of the film's story is also about Pakhi (Kymsleen Kholie), who works as a maid at the couple's home. "She's a dreamer and the harsh realities of Mumbai don't suit her. The bias against Pakhi's Mongoloid features is something people from the region face regularly," he says.
The film has been awarded at multiple international forums and that only goes a step forward in getting more people to support the larger cause of the movie, says Bora.
Crediting his mentor, National Award-winning director Jahnu Barua for his achievements, he says, "Jahnuda is an institution of cinema and I've worked as his assistant for six years. The best way to learn from him was to be a silent observer. I've also learnt a lot about human nature from him."
The film's carbon neutral idea is what sets it apart. "I always wanted to make a film that celebrates nature and I'm glad our producer Maya Kholie came up with this idea. The process of making a film is also depleting the nature's resources. During this film, we planted 480 trees around Bhiwandi and Thane and also signed a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the villagers that they won't cut these trees for the next 15 years," says he.
