Television artist Kiran Karmarkar, who is best known as Om of "Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki", is set to tickle the funny bones of his fans with the new play "Merra Naam Joker".

The play marks Kiran's first attempt at comedy and will be staged May 1 in Mumbai.

"I am doing comedy for the first time and enjoying the rehearsals. But this is not my first play, I started my career in Marathi theatre," said Kiran.

Produced and directed by Shobha Khote, "Merra Naam Joker" is the story of a burglar who disguises himself as a joker to ransack houses. It also stars Bakul Thakkar, Kranti Redkar, Bhavana Balsavar and Shubha Khote.

Kiran hopes the audience, which is used to seeing him in serious roles, will accept him in his new avatar.
