Amitabh Bachhan, Tabu and the rest of the crew of "Cheeni Kum" were in for a rude shock when they reached a posh complex in Gurgaon on the city outskirts for shooting but were refused entry.

Prabhakar Shrivastav, president of the Malibu Towne Residents' Welfare Association (RWA), says it was a small incident and the media was blowing it out of proportion because Bachchan was involved in it.

The filming was scheduled for April 28. But apparently Bachchan and Tabu kept waiting in their make-up vans for the shooting, which finally didn't happen.

"It is just a small incident but the media is blowing it out of proportion mainly because Mr. Bachchan was also there. We have nothing against him. Shooting has been taking place here - this is not the first time. The only thing is that the producer of the film didn't come through the proper channel," Shrivastav told.

"They called me Thursday (April 27) evening saying they are coming to shoot the film next morning. I told them 'you are informing us at a very short notice. And I can't give you permission to shoot the film without consulting the other members.

So, if you can defer the shooting, I can call an emergency general body meeting of the RWA and seek permission for shooting'. But they didn't relent for whatever reasons and arrived in the morning."

The producer, Sunil Manchanda, apparently took permission for shooting from the builders - Malibu Towne Estate Ltd (MTEL) - and suffered a loss due to the incident.

But Shrivastav said: "The builders have no right to give permission and when I asked him to show me the papers, he failed to provide any kind of written statement. Anyway the issue has been sorted out.

"I think instead of writing about this inconsequential issue, the media should concentrate on other serious problems faced by the people here. The builders are not providing proper facilities to us. They should write about that."

The residents of the area are also concerned about security issues. They say whenever a film is shot there, all kinds of people throng the area and damage property. So they want film producers to take responsibility for the security before commencing shooting.

Apparently, "Cheeni Kum" director Balakrishan lost his cool when he was refused entry in the complex.

When contacted, Balakrishan told: "There was some ego issue between the MTEL and the RWA. Nothing else. Anyway, we didn't waste time and shot the film at another location and wrapped up the Delhi schedule. We are in Mumbai now and will shoot here."

Some parts of Sohail Khan's "Fight Club" were shot also in Malibu Towne.

"Anybody can come and shoot here, the only criterion being they should seek the written permission of the RWA before coming," said Shirvastav.
