Navin Nischol, Bollywood star of the seventies, and his brother Pravin were granted bail by a sessions court today. Navin and Pravin were arrested on April 29 on charges of abetting wife Gitanjali's suicide as mentioned in the suicide note. Geetanjali was found hanging at the couple's Mahim residence on April 22.

Sessions judge N D Deshpande granted bail to both for the sum of Rs 10,000 each.

Earlier today however the Bandra Metropolitan court had extended the police custody of the Bollywood actor and his brother till May 9. But now with the sessions court granting them bail the duo would be released from prison.

Navin and his brother were arrested under sections 109 (punishment of abetment), 306 (abetment of suicide) and 498 (enticing or detaining with criminal intent a married woman) IPC.
