Only a month back, Pakistan govt. relaxed the ban and allowed screening of two Indian films.
Now a private television channel in Pakistan has arranged a "Festival of Amitabh Bachchan" films from May 13. Salman Iqbal, the president of ARY Digital Network is very enthusiastic about the venture.
In a statement on May 5, he said, "He is the biggest film star of our times and is loved by fans and audiences globally. This is another step to help open more avenues to bridge gaps between the two countries.
We do believe we are the same culture, the same people. We are divided by a line that has put us into two different nations that cannot be removed and it should not be."
Nothing needs to be told about Amitabh Bachchan, he is respectfully and lovingly called Big B of Bollywood. He has acted in over 150 films, playing various roles and made an indelible mark in the heart of film lovers in the 1970s and 1980s. Amitabh Bachchan was voted in a 2002 BBC Online survey as the most popular screen and stage icon of all time, ahead of Laurence Olivier and Alec Guinness.
The 63-year-old , young at heart, Amitabh returned to work recently after being discharged from a Mumbai hospital in December, 2005, following surgery for a potentially life-threatening stomach illness. Indicates an indomitable spirit that lies inside a smiling Amitabh Bachchan.
