After "Dus", Anubhav Sinha returns this Friday with "Tathastu", a compelling drama about a helpless father whose son is facing a life-and-death crisis.

Starring Sanjay Dutt and Amisha Patel, Sinha's film is a copy of Hollywood film "John Q" starring Denzel Washington.

The story revolves round factory worker Ravi (Sanjay Dutt), his wife Sarita (Amisha Patel) and their eight-year-old son suffering from a heart disease. He needs a heart transplant and Ravi has to arrange hundreds of thousands of rupees to save his son's life.

He first tries to do it the right way by seeking help from his office, insurance company and loan sharks, but none of them responds to his appeal.

To make things worse, his son is not responding to medication and a desperate Ravi takes a gun in his hand and grabs the system by its horns to get his son a new heart. He holds up the hospital waiting room and lays out his conditions.

Can a father beat the system with a gun and a heart full of courage?

In "John Q", John Quincy Archibald's (Washington) son Michael collapses while playing baseball as a result of a heart failure. Immediately, John rushes Michael to the hospital's emergency room for a heart transplant.

Unfortunately, the insurance refuses to cover his son's medical expenses. So, for the sake of his son's life, John takes the emergency room hostage until the doctors agree to operate on his son.

This is not the first time a Bollywood director has lifted a Hollywood script - what matters is how meticulously he handles emotions and whether he manages to make an engaging drama.

The film is important for both, Sanjay and Amisha, whose career is going through a rough patch.
