A.B. Moosa, managing director of the Avalon Group of cinemas, announced that the company would be facilitating the South African production leg of "Dhoom 2".
Speaking at the official opening of the company's latest multiplex Lenasia Cinecentre at the mainly Indian township of Lenasia, south of here, he said: "The film is being produced by our dear friends the Chopra family of Yash Raj Films and we are proud to be working with them on this exciting project."
The movie is expected to be one of the biggest Bollywood movies of the year.
"The shoot will mean that we will have in South Africa for the first time the former Miss World Aishwarya Rai, rated amongst the top 10 most beautiful women in the world," he said.
The other stars in "Dhoom 2" include Bollywood heartthrobs Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Uday Chopra and Bipasha Basu.
"The shoot is going to entail fast-paced action sequences, helicopter chases and much more," Moosa added.
Qatar Airways will be sponsoring air travels from India to South Africa for the entire cast and production crew.
"Shooting 'Dhoom 2' here will have huge spin-offs for the tourism industry and the economy of South Africa," said Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker.
"The film, which will be seen by millions around the world, will be a great advertisement for South Africa. It will encourage further shoots by the producer and others from India and from around the globe."
Plans are being finalised to begin shooting at various South African locations later this month.
