It was kinda a trip down memory lane, when tragedy king Dilip Kumar entered the time machine `n` and went back to the glorious times of yore - made a rare appearance as `Devdas`, the doomed lover who re-wrote love stories in Indian cinema.
The occasion was the birth anniversary of late Bimal Kumar were the thespian was felicitated and a special screening of the late filmmaker`s classic `Devdas`, was organised by Bimal Roy Memorial Committee (BRMC) and the National Film Archive of India. Dilip Kumar who essayed the title role in the film was very triumphant and spoke at length about the complexities of the role, especially because he was a cheerful sportsman off screen, while the onscreen `Devdas` was a depressed and gloomy character. Kumar wasn`t too keen on the role.
Nevertheless, history saw the thespian in his element in this as well as other movies. Little ironies of life, isn`t?
