Daily-wage labourers on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Sawariya claim that they went without pay since April 22.
On Tuesday morning, union leaders and the senior vice-chairman of the union, Prem Singh Thakur, went to the sets to demand payment. To pacify them, some workers
were paid wages for four days.
On Wednesday, the union leaders and workers refused to join work till full payment was made and also stopped three buses, carrying 150 workers to Karjat.
Their
demands were placed before the film's art director, Somnath Lohar on whose intervention the management later cleared the dues for all the workers till April 30.
Prem Singh talked to the media on the issue, "The workers were not paid even during Black. It took six months to get the payment of Rs 36 lakh. Even Amitabh Bachchan
supported us. This has become a regular occurrence. How will these poor people survive?"
Somnath Lohar, overseeing the work on the sets, explained, "On Monday, we made part payment and the rest will follow."
‘Saawariya', is a musical love story featuring two newcomer star kids - Rishi Kapoor's son Ranbir and Anil Kapoor's daughter Sonam.
