Comdeienne Aditi Mittal channelled a gangsta rapper and pouted all the way through, and even twerked with actor Ashwin Mushran. Actor Taapsee Pannu donned a T-shirt printed with `Yoda ho gaya hai kya tu`,with a lightsaber to boot. With live rap and hip-hop music setting the mood, Vir Das' show at Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) began when two models, with strategically placed cardboard boxes, made an entry. The boxes were removed to reveal a matching pair of red boxers. Kunaal Roy Kapoor, clad in a red T-shirt printed with `To eat or not to eat never a question`, followed, looking confusedly at the female model who walked alongside. Actors Ali Fazal and Deeksha Seth performed a comical street dance as they took to the ramp. `Fashion shows are a formal affair and the ramp is sacred, so this was an anti-fashion show in every sense.

The idea was to lighten the vibe and do something fun,` says Vir Das. At an event choc-a-bloc with top designers showcasing couture and prêt collections and predicting seasonal trends, the stand-up comic and actor's fashion showcase was completely in tune with his eccentricities. Weirdass Pret A Funny is Das' latest venture, a fashion line comprising pop culture-inspired T-shirts and boxers for men and women. Yes, boxers for the other gender too, with cheeky catchlines like `Not tonight` and `Aap katar mein hai`. `I've dated enough women to know that they love wearing boxers. So, this was waiting to happen,` says the36-year-old, adding that he always wanted to come up with merchandise. With Weirdass Comedy branching out into the digital, film and radio and TV space, a fashion line was the next logical step. `I'm not brand conscious so I wanted to introduce something that was in tune with my personality. A T-shirt is an advertisement for who you are,` says Das, who himself took the curtain call in a T-shirt that said `I run a non-profit organisation. It's called my career`.
