Says Kareena, "I really really like that girl. She's fun, easy-going, hassle-free and honest...just like me. Our friendship cannot be measured against other filmy friendships. I make friends for life. For example my best friend has been with me from school. Amu too will remain with me."
To prove Kareena right Amrita is flying down to London from 5 –10 June. The two pals intend to have themselves a ball shopping, going to fun places and genereally doing the things they cannot do in Mumbai with thousands of eyeballs trailing them.
"It's very simple. You have to do what you have to do if you want a friendship to last," says Amrita. "Bebo is busy, and so am I. Besides our careers we both have our boyfriends to spend time with.
I had this opportunity to open a restaurant in Birmingham on the 3rd. When I heard Bebo was arriving in London on the 5th I decided to stay back for here sake. We'll have ourselves a ball."
There's another incentive for Amrita to be in London. "My boyfriend Usman (the cricketer) celebrates his birthday on the 9th. So I'll get a chance to spend it with him. Actually I'm killing three birds with one stone."
How does she manage to keep this long-distance relationship going? "Trust, friendship and lots of space. We need the time apart to excel in our individual professions. Also, the time we spend together is all quality time.
I hardly get to see Usman these days. I'll be seeing him next week after three months. Thankfully lots of shooting, shows inaugurations happen there.
Even the film that I'm doing with Madhavan will be shot in August in Scotland for twenty days and in London for fifteen days. So I guess I'll get some time with Usman then. In professions such as ours we really have to make an effort to keep a relationship going."
