Sony Entertaiment's acutely popular dance contest Boogie Woogie is back on June 9. And kicking off the inaugural episode is none other than Bollywood's own Jennifer
Lopez.
Urmila Matondkar laughs pleasurably at the experience.
"I had so much fun on the show. I normally don't go on television," confesses Urmila who's not seen on too many talk shows unless it's for a very close friend like Manish
Malhotra.
"That's precisely why I went to Boogie Woogie. I'd do television for a friend. And both the hosts on Boogie Woogie Javed Jaffrey and Ravi Behl are friends.
With Javed I've gone on many live concerts including my first word tour after Rangeela with Shah Rukh and Aamir. That was a truck-load of fun. ...Ravi Behl brings
back fond memories. I did my first lead as a heroine in Narasimha with Ravi. He's a fab dancer. And to be on a dance show with him is a delightful experience."
On Boogie Woogie we will see Urmila dance to the theme from her film Ek Hasina Thi. Says Urmila, "The first episode is a thriller special. And the experience was
thrilling."
Urmila Matondkar had herself a ball interacting with the contestants.
"They're all so gifted! And so well-prepared. It's easy for people to sneer and say these kids are
just copying acknowledged dancers and dances. But that's easier said and done. I love dancing. Even I had my role models when I came in. Today I'm flattered when I see
so many newcomers copying me."
