As the story goes, back in Kolkata Sonnalli had got through one of the best fashion institutes in India (NIFT) as she had a strong desire to be a designer. She has also held many fashion exhibitions in her hometown. But the actress had to make a tough choice between entering the Miss India pageant or taking up the NIFT four years course. After having a series of discussions with her close friends and family, Sonnalli made up her mind to become Miss India, and there she was. Sonnalli was crowned Miss India International in the year 2006. However, she continued to design as a hobby and till date loves designing her outfits.
Talking about designing, Sonnalli says, "I don't regret not taking up designing only because I can continue to pursue it as a passion. It was overwhelming to receive such positive reactions for the outfit I put together. I haven't got the time to design much in the last one year but the GQ awards stint certainly peps me up to get time out and do more of this."
While wearing affluent fashion labels is a fad at such fashion events, Sonnalli clearly stood out with her in-house and tailor-made outfit. We are looking forward to see more of Sonnalli in her personally designed apparels!
