Aamir Khan, though he denies it vehemently in the press here, has been canvassing in the US for Lagaan to make it to the Oscars. Ambitious to get his best film yet into the reckoning in the foreign film category, Aamir pulled out all the stops and finally managed to get it into the Academy as India's official entry .

However, that's not even half the battle won, for big time producers from all over the world are vying for the honors and it's a known fact that to get your film into the final five, one has to do some big spend, in terms of screenings and creating awareness for the film. Aamir is doing just that and hence has put his acting career on hold for the moment. It seems, that post Oscars, he would most probably start work on the John Mattew Matthan directed film that Aamir himself is producing.
