Police have registered a case against actor Kiku Sharda, known for his portrayal of 'Palak' in TV show 'Comedy Nights with Kapil', after followers of Sirsa headquartered Dera Sacha Sauda lodged a complaint against him for allegedly hurting their sentiments.

Sharda was booked yesterday under section 295 A of the Indian Penal Code (outraging religious feelings of any class by insulting it's religion or religious belief), police said today.

Dera followers have alleged that Sharda had hurt their religious sentiments by mimicking their sect head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in an episode of the TV show aired on December 27.

Earlier, Dera followers had protested against the actor, who shot to fame on small screen with comedy show "FIR", seeking action against him.
