Sony Entertainment Television is launching a new show called "Extreme Makeover" that promises to change the lives of physically disfigured people.

It aims at transforming the looks of people who have any kind of flawed looks - scars, prominent birthmarks, congenital cleft lip - as well as victims of acid attacks or explosions.

The call for entries started July 4 and will continue till July 18.

Some of the India's top plastic surgeons, eye surgeons and cosmetic dentists, along with a team of hair and makeup artists, stylists and personal trainers are being roped in for this unique programme.

The show will be hosted by Jassi aka Mona Singh who played plain Jane in "Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin".

"Playing Jassi, I have experienced the extent of personal trauma that an individual faces in terms of acceptance by the peer group and how it can lead to sheer lack of confidence in an individual due to any disfigured exterior," said Mona.

"Although my experience is limited to an on-screen character, I didn't like the feeling. I cannot imagine what a person might be facing in real life - an individual's deformity becomes a barrier in his or her personal and professional life.

I am so happy to know that Sony Entertainment Television has taken such a mammoth task through this unique show to change peoples' lives."

Any body who is above 18 years and suffers any kind of physical disfigurement can contact the show organisers by sending an SMS umeed on 2525 or can email their problems at umeed@miditech.tv

Apart from that people can send entries by calling up "Extreme Makeover" help line numbers - 09873766944 (Delhi), 022-32466681(Mumbai).
