BO Report Card: 'Airlift' is rising slowly

Action star Akshay Kumar's latest film 'Airlift', which revolves around the evacuation of Indians from Kuwait during the 1990 Iraq-Kuwait war, earned over Rs.12 crore at the ticket window on its opening day.

Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the film collected Rs.12.35 crore on Friday, read a statement.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has received an `impressive` start at the box office and the business might rise towards the weekend. `#Airlift has an impressive day one. Friday Rs.12.35 crore. India biz. Exceptional word of mouth. Biz should multiply over the weekend,` Adarsh posted on Twitter on Saturday.

The film tells how the Indian government evacuated 1,70,000 people through 488 flights during the Iraq-Kuwait war.
